.The highly anticipated return of the Redbridge Open has been announced, marking its prominent place on the 2024 UK Racketlon Tour.
The Redbridge Open will be hosted at Redbridge Sports Centre on Monday, May 6.
We’re also delighted that the Redbridge Open has been confirmed as a Racketlon World Tour Satellite event. This means that World Ranking Points will be available for all players that take part.
Having previously hosted the prestigious World Doubles Championships and numerous international events, this venue is steeped in racketlon history. Redbridge has previously showcased its ability to host world-class competitions, having successfully organised a World Tour event as recently as 2021.
Players will be able to enter the Redbridge Open from 18:00GMT on Friday, 1st March here. There is a capacity of 88 players so please enter early to avoid disappointment.
World Tour Racketlon Returns to Redbridge
Organised by Sam Barker, Keith Lesser and Dave Lazarus in collaboration with UK Racketlon and the Federation of International Racketlon, the Redbridge Open promises an action-packed schedule for participants and spectators alike.
The tournament will take place on Monday, May 6, which coincides with the Bank Holiday in the United Kingdom. This provides a perfect opportunity for players to showcase their skills.
It is also a perfect opportunity for those heading to Denmark a few days later for the World Doubles Championship. It will provide one final opportunity for players to sharpen their skills ahead of the landmark event.
With no London Open in 2024, this will also be the only chance for players to take part in a Racketlon World Tour event on British soil in 2024.
What to expect at the SAT Redbridge Open?
This will be a four-court venue, with indoor tennis courts. This means that we will have a capacity of over 80 players, making it one of the largest events on the UK Racketlon Tour in 2024.
Participants will have the chance to showcase their abilities across multiple sports, making for an exhilarating and challenging experience.
The Redbridge Open welcomes players of all levels, offering several categories to ensure fair and competitive matches.
The categories will include, Men’s A,B,C,D, Women’s A-B, Juniors U14, Juniors U16, Girls U16, Ladies +40, Men’s +40 and Men’s +55.
The tournament will follow a Monrad draw format, with 8-draws or groups of 4 or 6 players. This will ensure an equitable and exciting competition for all involved.
All players competing in the tournament will receive World Ranking points when the new rankings are published at the start of June.
As this tournament is a Racketlon World Tour event, registration will need to be via fir.tournamentsoftware.com. Your standard UK Racketlon registration will not work and you will need a separate World Tour login. However, please note that players will not need an FIR License to compete.
We are also delighted to announce that, as this is a special event on the UK Racketlon calendar, we are able to reduce the entry fees to £30 for adults. Junior prices remain at £20.
