UK Racketlon

Written by James Pope

Here at UK Racketlon we’ve got another tournament for you to sink your teeth into, with the annual Easter Racketlon event that is the Essex Open returning on Easter Monday 22nd April. Please note, the event starts at 12 noon! Once again this will be run by Racketlon legend Dave Lazarus, with the competition promising to be just as fun and intense as ever. Entry will open tomorrow (Tuesday 12th March) at 5pm here at Tournament Software.

For first time players, or those who haven’t played a Lazarus run event before, things will run a little differently to usual tournaments. There will only be four grades – two ranking categories alongside a non-ranking taster event aimed at the more casual or first-time players of Racketlon and a junior event. The ranking grades will likely be a particularly intense day – be ready for plenty of matches!

All the events will be mixed gender and feature a BYOF (Bring Your Own Feathers) policy – equipment for all sports will be provided, however using plastic shuttles which is reflected in a lower, more accessible price. If players wish to use feather shuttles, they are more than welcome to bring their own however. While the ranking grades will be played in the usual order of table tennis, badminton, squash then tennis, the taster event will be played in any order drawn at random.
