Herts Open 2013 - Info/Draw/Schedule Published

The player information, draws for each category, and the overall schedule, are all now available in a single PDF document, available to download at:

Info/Draw/Schedule (PDF)

All entrants are requested to read this sheet and the event webpages to acquaint themselves with event timing, category timing and latest arrival times, and venue details.

Please note that this is a provisional draw and changes may be made, even on the morning of the event, due to the occasional withdrawal and no-show. Players apparently receiving first round byes in this provisional draw may end up playing in the first round, and are requested to arrive in time for the start of their category at the very latest. All players are encouraged to turn up for the briefings listed, regardless of their category start time, especially if new to the sport.

LSA – Ladies Singles A has a complicated structure due to our receiving our least favourite number of entries for a category – 10. It will work as follows:

a)     First round, two seeds get byes – the remaining 8 play four first round matches as indicated in the LSA sheet

b)     The four first round winners will join the two seeds in pseudo-category LSA1, where an RR33 format is played i.e. two round robin groups of 3, with playoffs. The finishing order of the 6 players gets fed back into LSA to occupy the top 6 spots in the LSA finishing order.

c)     The four first round losers play a RR4 format in pseudo-category LSA2 i.e. round robin of 4, so 3 more games each. The finishing order of those 4 players gets fed back into LSA to occupy the lower 4 spots in the LSA finishing order.

d)     In order to keep to schedule and allow for the greater number of games, all Ladies Singles matches will be played to 15, not 21.

Technical Note: The PDF document should be accessible to all via the public domain Acrobat Reader software. Naturally, in order to view the fine detail, you will probably need to zoom in and pan around the pages.
