UK Racketlon

Racketlon - Festive Wishes & 2011 Summary

What a year for UK Racketlon.
Top of the tree has to be the fantastic achievement of Calum Reid. To become World Champion in the Mens Open Class A is well world class.
David Lazarus showed again that ability with hard work is what is needed after many months of training, it all came together for Dave with comfortable victories in the semi and final not even needing tennis to become World Over 45’s Champion.
Isabelle Tyrrell after a great English Open win in 2010 exploded onto the international scene and would have done even more damage had injury not prevented this.
I haven’t even mentioned highly world ranked players like Jermaine Manners, Ray Jordan, Jason Granville, Rakesh Gupta, Steve Kneller, Richard Lawrence and Natalie Lawrence (no relation).
More medals at the World Team Championships in Milan showed our juniors have a bright future.
More events in more geographies give us a solid base to keep building the sport.
The future looks good in the North of England with more growth planned.
The AGM in October was excellent where Middlesex claimed the County crown.
Also, good to see Loughborough University start a club and did you know you can even study racketlon at university now (in America).
I enjoyed my brief stint as Chairman and I’m sure Ray Jordan will relish this role in 2012 and beyond.
I wish you all an excellent rest of 2011 and a sporting 2012.
Best Wishes
Keith Lesser (on behalf of the English Racketlon Association).
