UK Racketlon

RACKETLON RETURNS TO SUNNY EASTBOURNE

Eastbourne has the reputation as being the sunniest place in the country and has a thriving sports community. After playing himself for a couple of years Dan Woodley has taken on the mantle of organising his first event.  Being Dan he stills wants to play so on the day Stuart Hobden will help run the event but we need people to enter to ensure Dan doesn't win his own event !

The first Eastbourne Racketlon will be held at the Hampden Park Sports Centre two miles north of Eastbourne town centre on 16th July 2011. The event is being sponsored by a local firm of solicitors, Lawson Lewis & Co and therefore the cost of the event will only be £12.50.

Eastbourne and its surrounding areas have numerous sports clubs with active squash, badminton and table tennis leagues along with the women’s International Lawn Tennis WTA tournament in June at the Devonshire Park.  Racketlon doubles has being run a number of times at the local David Lloyd over the last couple of years and the aim of the event is to introduce racketlon singles to the local community with minimal cost to them. We are therefore targeting people in East Sussex but entry is definitely open to all and “tour racketloners” would be more than welcome.

There will be the following categories – Mens A-D; Ladies A and B and Under 16s. We are flexible and if there is a need for additional categories then this can be arranged. The centre has 2/3 table tennis tables, 3 badminton courts, 2 squash courts and 3 outdoor tennis courts all next to each other – from the tennis courts you have a fantastic view of the English Channel (according to Dan who has dubious eyesight).

The event is now live in “Tournament Entries”. Enter early – you’ll be surprised how quickly the draws will fill up.

Thanks

Dan & Stuart
